Outreaches

Medical Clinic:

The Compassion Medical Clinic opened its doors in June of 2007. It is currently seeing patients at a rate of 900 per year. The clinic's expectations are that you live in Williams County, make under 200% of the federal poverty guidelines and have no private or governmental insurance of any kind.

The clinic is an outreach in the name of Christ for those who are wounded and hurting. It is open five nights per month, (the first and last Monday and the second, third, and fourth Thursdays of the month from 6-8:30 pm). Appointments at the clinic can be made by calling 419-551-7169.

The clinic is staffed by over 100 volunteers. We have nine physicians and two physician's assistants who are able to see patients, and they are aided by thirty-five nurses. We also have seven pharmacists and pharmacy assistants volunteering as well. When a patient comes in, they are greeted by greeters who help them fill out the paperwork. Their information is then entered into the computer by the workers at the front desk. Then a nurse takes an assessment of the patient to see why they are there and what their needs are. Then a prayer partner comes in to meet with the patient and pray with them. Then the doctor comes in and handles the medical issues. Any prescriptions are written and taken to our pharmacy where we try to fill them there. Since we are able to buy prescriptions at state minimum prices, we are much cheaper than sending our patients to regular pharmacies.

If the physician requires medication that the patient is to take on a regular basis, we have people there trained to help the patient find prescription assistance programs from the drug manufacturers.

If the patient has issues other than physical, we have a social worker there to help them with those issues, as well as a pastor/counselor there to help them with emotional and spiritual situations.

The clinic has been generously funded in the community by individuals, corporations, churches, and the United Way.
